Design + control experiments with SMRT Link software

Web-based SMRT Link software supports sequencing prep, run design, and data analysis in a single interface across a wide range of applications.

Vega transfers sequencing data to your preferred network or directly to Amazon, Google, or Microsoft cloud.

SMRT Analysis provides fast, easy, and powerful computational tools and workflows to get complete views of the full genome or specific region of interest and exceptionally accurate variant calling like TRGT, and more.

Save on compute and storage costs

The Vega system goes beyond basecalling – every run also measures DNA methylation status, calculated with a deep learning algorithm. On-instrument primary analysis includes barcode demultiplexing and conversion to the standard BAM format – so you can make meaningful insights faster. Efficient data representation encodes sequence, quality values, and methylation in about 0.5 bytes per base — 20× smaller than for other long-read technologies.

Frequently asked questions

HiFi sequencing is a single-molecule long-read technology that produces highly accurate, long DNA reads by combining multiple passes of the same molecule into a consensus sequence, allowing you to resolve complex genomic regions and close gaps in your data.

SPRQ-Nx is an updated HiFi sequencing chemistry for the Vega system that enables reduced sequencing costs, increased yields, and support for 21 CFR part 11 compliance. It adds 5hmC methylation detection, improves 5mC and 6mA detection performance, and delivers more consistent yield and accuracy across runs.

If you’re already doing HiFi sequencing, transitioning to the Vega system is seamless. Your workflow stays nearly the same, with only a slight change in sequencing consumable kits. Just follow the naming guidelines, and you’re ready to sequence!

From Nanobind sample prep kits to HiFi plex library prep kits and Kinnex application kits, your current kits are fully compatible with Vega. Plus, the same HiFi analysis tools you trust with Revio work perfectly with Vega too. Expect the same high performance, reliability, and confidence.

HiFi long-read sequencing generates individual reads that are thousands of nucleotides long, using “native” DNA from your sample. This preserves important base modifications, so you automatically get methylation detection included in every run.

In contrast, short-read sequencing uses much shorter fragments (50 to 300 bases) and requires enzymatic amplification, which can introduce bias and miss base modifications. This makes it harder for short reads to handle complex regions, like repetitive areas or isoform rearrangements. Learn about what sets HiFi reads apart in our HiFi Difference blog series.

Compared to other long-read methods, HiFi sequencing stands out for its accuracy and simplicity. Read about how PacBio HiFi long read sequencing compares to nanopore sequencing in our blog.
