Complete Genome Sequence of a Carbapenem-Resistant Escherichia coli Isolate with blaNDM-5 from a Dog in the United States.

The carbapenem resistance gene blaNDM-5 was identified in an Escherichia coli strain isolated from a dog. We report here the complete genome sequence of this E. coli strain; the blaNDM-5 gene was present on a large IncFII multidrug-resistant plasmid. This is the first blaNDM-5-carrying E. coli strain from an animal in the United States.
