Serinibacter

The genus Serinibacter belongs, based on the phylogenetic analysis of the nearly full-length 16S rRNA gene, to the Beutenbergiaceae together with the genera Beutenbergia, Salana, and Miniimonas. The two species of the genus Serinibacter shared 99.6% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity but low DNA DNA relatedness. Cells are irregular rods, Gram-stain positive, not acid-fast. Endospores are not formed. Nonmotile. Aerobic to anaerobic. Oxidase-negative, catalase-positive. The peptidoglycan type is A4a with an l-Ser residue at position 1 of the peptide subunit. The acyl type is acetyl. The major cell-wall sugar is galactose. The predominant menaquinone is MK-8(H4). The major polar lipids consist of phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylinositol, and unidentified phospholipids. Phosphatidylethanolamine is absent. The cellular fatty acid profile is dominated by the occurrence of iso- and anteiso-branched-chain acids. Mycolic acids are absent. The genomic G+C content is 70.7 to 72.8 mol%.

Draft genome sequence of Cyanobacterium sp. strain HL-69, isolated from a benthic microbial mat from a magnesium sulfate-dominated hypersaline lake.

The complete genome sequence ofCyanobacteriumsp. strain HL-69 consists of 3,155,247 bp and contains 2,897 predicted genes comprising a chromosome and two plasmids. The genome is consistent with a halophilic nondiazotrophic phototrophic lifestyle, and this organism is able to synthesize most B vitamins and produces several secondary metabolites. Complete genomes of the marine flavobacterium Nonlabens strains YIK11 and MIC269

Here, we report the complete genome sequences of two strains, which were isolated from sediment samples collected in Korea and Micronesia, and both were classified as members of Nonlabens spp. The complete genome sequence of Nonlabens sp. strain YIK11 consists of 3,260,677bp in two contigs while the one from strain MIC269 consists of 2,884,293bp in one contig, without plasmid. The genomes of YIK11 and MIC269 contain three and two genes encoding rhodopsins of different types, respectively.

High- quality draft genome sequences of eight bacteria isolated from fungus gardens grown by Trachymyrmex septentrionalis ants.

For their food source, Trachymyrmex septentrionalis ants raise symbiotic fungus gardens that contain bacteria whose functions are poorly understood. Here, we report the genome sequences of eight bacteria isolated from these fungus gardens to better describe the ecology of these strains and their potential to produce secondary metabolites in this niche.
